Our November outing, to Silver Falls State Park, was a great time had by all. I was a little surprised at the number of boys that ended up coming, twelve in all, and three adults, but we had a great time.
The lodge we stayed in was very nice, with a large fire pit in the middle. The food was great, and the boys did an exceptional job preparing breakfast. The weather couldn’t have been better, sunny and clear.
Saturday morning, we hiked the “Trail of Ten Falls”, didn’t quite see all ten, but had a wonderful five mile hike. (We all agreed Hans put in about ten, with all the running around he did) No complaining, moaning or otherwise. All seemed to enjoy. We played some football, had a “log tying” contest, using the timber hitch and two half hitches. We had a lot of time around the campfire, talking and telling stories.
On Sunday, seven of the twelve boys, and all three of the adults, woke up at 1:30 am and went outside to partake in the observance of the awesome meteor showers. It was very cold, but the skies were so clear, we couldn’t have had better circumstances. All who saw them, even though it was hard to wake up, were glad they did.
Jordan, Levi, Miles, Hans, Willie, Chris, Kris, John, Noe, Nate, Eric and Tyson, it was great getting to know you better. Yours in Scouting: Chris Steele, Bob Vore and Vince
