Bicycle Ride, May 2002

On May 11, 2002 nine boys and five adults from our troop, met at Vancouver Lake Park for a twenty mile bicycle ride. All conditions were perfect. The weather was sunny and warm. We rode our bikes from the park, along Lower River Road ten miles to the end, along a wildlife refuge. The ride was great, everyone did very well, no complaining, crashes or otherwise. We then turned around and headed back to the park where the boys and some adults played ultimate football, while the rest of the adults prepared hamburgers on the Bar-B-Q. Everyone had a wonderful time. The Bar-B-Q was a huge success.

The ride, is part of the Cycling Merit Badge, being led by Vince. WE are planning more rides throughout the summer, with a fifty mile final ride, planned for early September, to finalize the requirements. If your are interested in taking the Merit Badge, it is not too late. Contact Vince, we will go over the requirements, and get you on your way. We will be doing two ten mile rides, two fifteen mile rides, two twenty five mile rides, and then the final fifty mile ride. It will be a lot of fun, and is not as hard as it sounds.
