Government Mineral Springs, October 02

12 scouts went on our camping trip to mineral springs.  Willie and Chris Vore, Brandon Hamilton, Nathaniel Corligliano, Jason and Justin Meengs, Travis Gomez, Tyler and Ian McMahon, Wesley Blundell, Levi Steele, and Jon Mattson.  The adults who came were Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Vore, Mr. Meengs, Mr. Blundell, and Mr. McMahon.

We split into two patrols by putting the Hawks in the Tiger patrol and the Panthers into the Frogs patrol.  We camped and ate in patrols.  There were fire pits but since our tents were too close we couldn't have fires in them.  Down the hill was "Iron Mike", a well with funny tasting mineral water (pic.#38).  First we set up our tents then ate lunch.  The Tigers decided to cook some mashed potatoes.  Everyone made Mineral Tang.  We had some patrol competitions like a compass course, shelter building, first aid, and a three-legged race.  Then we made dinner.  The Tigers made spaghetti while the Frogs had stew.  When their can-opener didn't work, they resorted to a pair of pliers.  I had to take a picture(#28).  We didn't do anything after that until it was dark, then we had a campfire.  The adults made cookies and we did about 5 skits per patrol along with telling a bunch of jokes.

The next day first thing was breakfast.  Tigers had French toast while the Frogs had bacon and eggs.  After breakfast we just sat around not doing anything.  Now we had a decision to make, go to Beacon Rock, see if the dam was open, or stay at camp.  We stayed at camp doing nothing until some of us started a makeshift baseball game.  Everyone joined in.  Adults too.  When we were planning to end the game soon the baseball (a mass of junk) rolled into Levi's barf.  END OF GAME.  We left soon after.  After stopping for lunch in Stevenson there was a half-hour bathroom break.  We got home an hour late.
