On February 23 - 24, Our troop headed up to Camp Baldwin for another winter camp out. Not sure how much snow would be up there, and with the weather so warm down here in the lowlands, we thought it best that all campers bring tents as back ups. That was thinking, while there was snow, maybe a foot and a half at most, not enough to snow cave. So tent camping we did do. And it was very nice.
Everyone had a great time, no one got cold, plenty of wet cloths, but the boys were prepared, had proper gear, and managed to stay warm. There were good meals cooked, , plenty of sledding and snow boarding and in general, some wonderful commodore.
The adults had a good time visiting and telling stories. They enjoyed watching the boy’s play in the snow and interact with each other in such a positive manor.
There was a good turn out, 12 boys and 6 adults. The weather could not have been better, cool and clear, no rain or snow, beautiful sky’s, nice sunshine, just about perfect. The lake was frozen over, probably enough to walk on, but we thought it best not to take the risk. The boy’s spent hours trying to break the ice with rocks, but to no avail.
